Vicksburg, 144 Years ago


Descendants of the 11th Wisconsin, 144 years ago your ancestors took great pride in the fall of Vicksburg. The regiment fought bravely suffering more losses (killed/wounded in battle) during Grant’s Vicksburg Campaign than during any other campaign of the war they took part in. Here is a clipping describing their exploits during the battle at the Big Black River.
